Mickey Rourke vs. Sean Penn in a Heavyweight Text Message Battle
Monday, December 29, 2008 at 10:53PM
About 15 years ago, Gerald Posner wrote a book called Case
Closed, which set out to prove that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman in the
assassination of John F. Kennedy. Whether or not you believe his position, he put a lot of
work into writing the book and purusing a an opinion that now even the government believes
is probably inaccurate.

Today, Posner has taken on another of the great stories of our time.
He writes that he was shown a
text message from
The Wrestler star
Mickey Rourke to "a Los Angeles
entertainment honcho" in which Rourke makes disparaging comments about fellow potential
Best Actor nominee
Sean Penn. The text comes a few
days after Rourke reportedly told someone backstage after an appearance on The Late Show
with David Letterman that he wasn't sure Penn would even score a nomination for
Milk.
Here's the text in question:

“Look seans an old friend of mine and i didnt buy his performance at all—thought he did an average pretend acting like he was gay besides hes one of the most homophobic people i kno [sic]."Rourke's publicist claims that there's no feud, pointing out that Rourke attended the Milk premiere to support Penn, and insisting that her client has no knowledge of the text. We'll see if the story has legs - or if there's even anything to it - but it's certainly not the sort of thing that would help Rourke get votes, especially since he's a Hollywood outsider with a very checkered history.

Mickey crushed his role in The Wrestler!
I want him to win as many awards as possible, so i don't care about some stupid text message.
Once a thug, always a thug!
