'Dragonball' Gets a New Name?
Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 10:55PM
Coming Soon reports that the much-maligned
Dragonball movie has slapped on a fresh coat of
paint, renaming itself Dragonball: Prince of Thieves.
OK, not really. It's Dragonball: Evolution according
to this report, which may not be a thing Underworld: Evolution, but it might
help explain the storyline in the film. As we know, the Dragonball series
is way to big to cram into one movie, so maybe calling it Evolution gives a hint
that we're at the beginning of the story and only the beginning. As a matter of
fact, that's about all Evolution could mean in this case.

Still, fans have been unreceptive to the casting, to trailers, to posters, to what they hear the movie will keep and what it will omit, so this might just be, to borrow poisonous political parlance, lipstick on a pig. Fox has not confirmed the name change, but since Terminator Salvation has apparently dumped the longer Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, there was an urgent need to add a useless subtitle to one potential tentpole movie in 2009.

Personally I doubt very much that this movie will actually work. There have been far too many different versions/series to make this movie worth watching.
There's way too many heroes & villians in the various series to cram into just one movie,
there's a heck of a lot of crazy powers & fights that can't really be copied by actual human beings. I mean c'mon, they all fly, they all take tremendious amount of hits that most "normal" super heroes would really be able to handle, in the series every single fight looks like it's taking hours when really they taking mere minutes (same goes for when it seems a whole week but is really just a single day), so how the hell are they going to copy that??
And seriously, good luck on finding all the actors for every character in the series, I mean we are talking about a lot of them! If you are a dragon ball, DBZ, DBGT, and DB movie fan, you'll know it'll be near impossible for this movie to work out properly and actual sound good.
And seriously, forget about trilogies! There's gonna have to be at least 10 movies to make it good!
All I can say is, good luck on not making this movie into another "Street Fighter" disappointment,
and yes, everyone knows what I am talking about!
