Trailer - 'The Boat That Rocked'
Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 1:56PM
It's becoming something of a minor trend, releasing a
lower budget import from Britain here in the U.S. as counterprogramming to the
giant blockbusters that kick off the summer. This year it was the sensational
Son of Rambow, in 2007 it was Once, Layer Cake came out in May
of 2005...and you can trace it all the way back to About a Boy in 2002.
Next year, it looks like we'll get a fairly high profile
English flick, courtesy of
Richard Curtis (Notting Hill, Love Actually).
The Boat That Rocked is a comedy about a pirate
radio station broadcasting off the coast of England in the late 1960s. It's got
a really good cast -
Philip Seymour Hoffman,
Bill Nighy,
Nick Frost,
Rhys Ifans,
and Kenneth
Branagh - and the new trailer is out now, slapped on the front of the
Mamma Mia! DVD. There are worse ways to announce your movie, that's for
sure.

There's no U.S. release date for this just yet, but it's opening in several European countries on April 30th or May 1st, so I'd say it'll be right around that time here, as well.
