Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 10:27PM Creepy: New Heath Ledger Joker Action Figure from Mattel
On Tuesday at the Toy Industry Association Toy Fair, Mattel rolled out its brand new line for this summer's Dark Knight. Of course, given the passing of Heath Ledger, a Joker doll seems at the least off-putting and at the worst a tad inconsiderate given the timing. I guess they had to do it sometime, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who would've rather Mattel waited a few months.Having said that, Joy Hog (which has more photos of the soon-to-be collectible) quotes "a family spokesman" as saying, "Heath was very proud of his work in the film, and his family is aware and supportive of Warner Bros. and its partner?s plans for the movie." So I guess there's your answer: They were always going to make a doll, and it's not like it's a Heath Ledger action figure, it's a Joker action figure. But you've got to admit...it's not the least disturbing toy you've ever seen.

The Joker will be released by Mattell later this year and will sell for $10.99.

It would be a little weird to see kids playing with this toy. "Look Mommy! I'm Playing the Terrorist!"
