Jean Frampton is suddenly a trivia answer. The real-life Miss Moneypenny began her career with James Bond creator Ian Fleming as a typist, but as their relationship lengthened and became more trusting, she eventually submitted story ideas to the author. Now, letters between Fleming and Frampton are expected to go for thousands of pounds at an auction in England. The letters mention several Fleming works, including Thunderball, Live and Let Die, and The Man with the Golden Gun.
For Thunderball, written in 1960, a couple years before the first Bond film forever changed the landscape for Fleming and his creation, the author instructed Frampton, "I am afraid this is not a good transcript...I would be deeply obliged if you could apply your keen mind to any points."
Said auctioneer Amy Brenan of Fleming's relationship with Frampton, whom he never met, "Her interest led her to make suggestions to the plot, for her to make alterations, and Fleming actually welcomed it."
Not included among the letters are Frampton's feelings about the character name Christmas Jones.
