Movie Trailer - 'City of Ember'
Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 6:12PM
Back in 2003, the novel City of Ember was released. A year later, Tom
Hanks quietly purchased the rights and now, after four years of development,
City of Ember will finally be released in
theaters. It's an unusual young adult story about an underground
city that has flourished since Earth's citizens had to move below because of an
overly toxic atmosphere threatened the planet. The glittering lights in the
"sky" of the City are starting to flicker when the generator powering the city
begins to slow down and it's up to two friends to try to save their fellow
citizens.
Bill Murray plays the Mayor of Ember, and Oscar
nominee
Saoirse Ronan (Atonement) will portray
one of the principals, along with
Harry Treadaway. And here's the brand new
trailer for City of Ember:
City of Ember opens on October 10th. It looks
very cool and not at all like a mindless young adult adaptation. The most
promising aspect of all of this in my opinion is that City of Ember is
the live action directorial debut of Gil Kenan, whose Monster House is way, way underrated.
