Baz Luhrmann's 'Australia' Gets a Gorgeous New Trailer

I've been
looking forward to whatever was next from
Baz Luhrmann for a long time. After
Moulin Rouge!, if I have my chronology
straight, he was going to make a flick about Alexander the Great, then shelved
it and starting hammering out ideas for what would eventually become
Australia.
The film, starring
Nicole Kidman and
Hugh Jackman,
is set in northern Australia prior to
World War II. Kidman plays an English aristocrat who inherits an enormous cattle
ranch. She's forced to work with the rough and tumble Jackman when cattle barons
try to take her land.
So, yeah, it's a Baz Luhrmann movie about a
cattle drive, basically, and for good
measure, there's the Japanese attack on Darwin, Australia thrown in, too. At
least Baz isn't resting on his laurels; this is both completely different than
anything he's done in the past but, just like everything he's done before, it's
highly ambitious.
Australia opens on November 14th. Selfishly, I'd
like a Baz Luhrmann movie every year, but I know he can't create the magnificent
artistry he does quite so often. But, come on, Baz, give us more than one every
seven years.
