Movie Trailer - 'Death Race'

Here's something you don't run across everyday: Three-time
Oscar nominee
Joan Allen in a movie directed by the other
Paul Anderson. Yeah, you'd expect her to maybe be in a P.T. Anderson movie as
some point, but not a
Paul W.S. Anderson action flick...and
especially not a remake of the Roger Corman 70s camp classic, Death Race
2000.
It's now just called
Death Race, and it works under the same
premise as The Running Man or The Condemned: In the future, the
most depraved thing you can imagine has become a spectator sport. In this case,
it's a cross country race to the death. The original, in case you missed it,
paired Sly Stallone against David Carradine in a classic battle, and this time
around it's
Jason Statham and
Tyrese.
Per his usual characterization, Jason Statham is driving
fast again.
Here's the trailer, and it looks like it's better than a
Death Race 2000 remake ought to be.
I'm not real turned on by the August 22nd release date,
since late August is a Hollywood burial ground, but it still looks like Death
Race could have some potential.
