'The Dark Knight': Harvey Dent Doesn't Look So Good

Guess who's making an appearance in The Dark Knight?

We already knew Harvey Dent (played by Aaron Eckhart) would be a central figure in the film, but we also know there's more to Harvey Dent than just being a district attorney.

Here's a great clip from next month's Batman movie that should set the record straight once and for all about what Christopher Nolan plans to do with Dent in the film:

Prior to the summer movie season kicking off, I worried that the one thing that could possibly derail The Dark Knight was too many villains. It ruined Spider-Man 3 and if you look at Batman Begins, you could certainly argue that the third act was a bit crowded; maybe Liam Neeson could've come back later, since Nolan spent 90 minutes setting up a showdown with the Scarecrow.

And the reason it worries me is that The Dark Knight is the Joker's movie. He's the best villain in comic book history, and one of the best villains in literature, and in the hands of Heath Ledger, he certainly looks like the best movie character of the year. The Joker doesn't need help carrying a movie and he certainly doesn't need a distraction. It remains to be seen how much of Two-Face we'll get, but if he's any kind of villain at all, he should warrant his own movie. And if he's not, why is cluttering up the Joker's moment in the sun?

Maybe they can juggle all of this perfectly. I'm just saying they don't really need to.

I hope that the plan is simply to introduce Harvey Dent as a character, and as more then just a villain so that come next movie we see him as his conflicted character. We know that he wasn't always bad, and we become invested in both sides of his character. I really hope that what we see here is at the end if not the very end of the move.

Yeah, why was I wanting the credits to roll just then? I think they have given us the first seven minutes, and now...

The last 30 seconds?

Hmmm.
