Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 11:43PM 'Burn After Reading' Poster is On Fire
I couldn't be much more excited about the Coen Brothers' next film, the spy comedy Burn After Reading. Nobody but nobody does dark comedy with idiots any better than Joel and Ethan. Sure, they won their Oscar(s) for a gritty drama, but Burn After Reading just feels like a Coen movie, doesn't it?
There's a new poster for the flick, which Cinematical is all bragging about because they premiered it. Well, they should brag, frankly; I know I would.
This 60s-infused poster is just magnificent. I've been poring over my books of posters from the various decades and it's definitely reminiscent of the kind of artwork used in the 1960s, but I can't pinpoint what poster specifically that it reminds me of.
Cinematical has no info on who designed the new one-sheet, but it's just damned good work.

Burn After Reading, featuring all those names on the poster, will debut at the Venice Film Festival before opening in the U.S. on September 12th.
Get The Big Picture
At the request by Special Ops Media, the company that has designed the posters for Burn After Reading, we have removed the two latest images associated with that film on the basis that they were not yet approved for distribution. We apologize for any inconvenience.

It's very Saul Bass. His work for The Man With the Golden Arm, and a few others spring to mind...
The Coen's followed up their dark critically acclaimed Fargo with what became my favorite movie of theirs: The Big Lebowski.
Now, in the same vein, after yet another dark, critically acclaimed effort comes Burn After Reading.
Will history repeat itself? Here's hoping it does.
Touche-- you're so right-- it's very Saul Bass. In fact the font alone looks super similar to his work from Vertigo.
Vertigo.. THATS it..
