Ali Lohan May Star in 'Troll' Remake...Because the Universe is Inherently Evil

Hey, here's good news: Ali Lohan will get a movie.

Yep, Ali, the tempestuous 14-year-old sister of Lindsay, auditioned last week for a key role in the upcoming remake of the gawdawful horror flick Troll, and according to E!, she impressed the director, John Carl Buechler.

Of course, Buechler doesn't sound very hard to impress: "She was great. The camera loves her," declared Buechler, perhaps unaware that the movie he's directing is, in fact, a remake of his very own Troll, and 'great' would be the complete opposite of what he's going for.

"She's a really good actress...I am personally going to fight for her," said the director of Ghoulies III and Friday the 13th Part VII.

Much more alarming to me than the guy steering a remake of Troll saying that a tabloid mess in waiting like Ali Lohan is a good actress is the fact the some investors kicked in $25 million to make this movie in the first place. Sweet Jesus, The Strangers cost $9 million! I've seen Troll; there's no way that needs to be a $25 million flick. There's no way it even needed to be made the first time.

Troll is technically the first Harry Potter movie, by the way. OK, well, its hero is named Harry Potter Jr. I wonder if he'll have to change it now that the name actually means something? Or should he sue J.K. Rowling for violation of intellectual properties? It would explain the $25 million budget. But then it would also imply that the man who's trying to tell that Troll story one more time has intellect.

Troll version 2.0 is scheduled for a 2009 release.

A "key role," huh? So you passed on the obvious "she must be the title character" joke.
