Trailer - Liam Neeson Hunts High and Low for His Daughter in 'Taken'
Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 9:13AM
When reading the description for
Taken, I'm kind of reminded of Paul Schrader's
Hardcore, starring George C. Scott. In that
film, Scott played a father from the Midwest who heads to L.A. to look for his
daughter, a runaway who has become involved in the porn industry.
Back in 1979, that prospect was much seedier than it is
today, not that it's exactly the Peace Corps now.
Taken is about a former spy (Liam
Neeson) who has to lean his old training to track down his daughter (Maggie
Grace from the first season of Lost) after she falls into the
slave trade. So really, there's not much difference, other than Neeson's more a
man of action and George C. Scott was an overwhelmed Calvinist.
Taken will be released in September.

The movie is fantastic. Imagine if someone took your daughter to sell on the international traffic market. Now imagine you're Bourne from the Matt Damon flicks. Liam Neeson is perfectly cast, the journey he takes is exactly what a father with Bournes skills would do to get her back.
