Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 8:36PM "I'm F***ing Matt Damon" Director Now Driving 'Le Car'
Remember how sick we got of "I'm F***ing Matt Damon"
after the third day? And remember how after one viewing we were over "I'm F***ing
Ben Affleck?
Well now,
Wayne McClammy, the guy who co-created the
videos for Jimmy Kimmel Live will get his very own movie. To his credit,
it was the abuse of the videos and not their creativity that made them burn out
so fast, so here's hoping McClammy's next inventive idea has a little more time
to flourish.
He has sold his spec for and will direct the comedy
Le Car, which
The Hollywood Reporter says, "is designed to
unspool as a 'found film' made in the 1980s about a group of CIA agents who try
to foil a plot by an evil car aiming to detonate an H-bomb at the Winter
Olympics in Lake Placid, N.Y." I like that very much.
The Reporter points out that Le Car is the fourth
comedy MGM has acquired since April, joining Bobism, The Zookeeper,
and Executive VP David M. Murch's Adventures in the Land of Zametherea.
The reason, in my mind, is two-fold: 1) MGM is developing new talent and ideas
rather than regurgitating tired old ideas through remakes and sequels, and 2)
Let's face it, MGM isn't exactly in their golden age, and a good way to make
money is to make and promote cheap movies. Comedies are almost always cheaper
than dramas.
As for McClammy, he has directed an episode of The
Sarah Silverman Program and is on board to direct Cool School, a
comedy being prepped at Fox, so even if Le Car won't start, he should be
fine.

TERRRRRIBLE REPORTING@!
Nice job mentioning the co-writer of the script - Will Burke, who's a WRITER at the Kimmel Show. I knew that guy, and he should be getting his due in all this press. There's been a ton of aritcles about Le Car which sounds goddamned hilarious by the way, and none of them are giving my boy Will Burke his props. Hooray for this McClammy character and all for being able to direct this thing, but I'll bet you Paul Pierce's championship ring he didn't write a whole movie script alone. A writer did. Try doing some research, knobs.
Eff, em, Burkey! Don't let em get ya down, kid.
PS: Celtics.
Well, you got me there. Will Burke, Jimmy Kimmel writer and former Harvard student, co-wrote the script. Do you know if he had something to do with the "Fucking" videos? I am sorry for the omission.
Not sure. Haven't talked to Burke in a while but I think all the Kimmel writers helped to write those videos, so yeah. I'm sure he proibably had a big hand in the "Fucking" vids.
But he definitely wrote the first short that Matt Damon did with Kimmel. And McClammy directed.
