'Dragonball', 'Earth Stood Still,' and 'RocknRolla' Posters from Cinema Expo
Yesterday, the new poster for
G.I. Joe made its way around
the internet. It was spotted at
Cinema Expo in Amsterdam, and apparently, that's
the place to be for new movie posters.
Check out the three found there yesterday by

First, because this ought to be pretty good, we have
The
Day the Earth Stood Still, a remake of the honest-to-goodness alien invasion
movie from the post-Roswell UFO era. As you can tell from the poster, it stars
Keanu Reeves.

Do we get our money back if the movies suck? Just kidding. :)
True, these are very good posters, but I'm curious what you mean by "this ought to be pretty good" when referring to The Day the Earth Stood Still. If you just mean the poster, that's fine. But how can you possibly have high hopes for Keanu's potential butchering of a classic?
I don't think he'll butcher it, not that he has all that much to do with the part that would be butchered. But face it, watching the original makes you wish certain elements of the production were a little more believable.
It's been over 50 years and I think the time is right enough for a remake. Also, look at Keanu over the past few years: It's a pretty good crop of movies (with the exception of the third Matrix, but again, that's not really his burden). Even Street Kings was pretty good.
Touche, Colin, and I may risk an astronomical amount of "cyber" tomatoes being hurled at me a la The Muppet Show's Fozzie Bear for admitting this but I've never quite understood the outrageous level of disdain people have for Reeves. He's no De Niro but it's not like he's Tom Green or something. In the right roles-- like the wise-cracking "shoot the hostage" gum chewing cop in Speed or in the first Matrix, he's actually pretty good. Okay, I'm preparing to duck for the backlash now...
I'm not saying he's a great actor, just that his taste in scripts is surprisingly good.
I want to like the DBZ movie, I really really do, I just cant. Look at it, how is that DBZ? Just have a long wait until the first trailer hits then all will be clear.
At the risk of having my house firebombed by a bunch of angry anime fans, yes, it looks awful. Original Street Fighter awful.
I love DBZ. And I don't know about that movie. Did you ever see the Mark Hamill Guyver movie? Jesus that was bad. This looks little like that. Why make a live action DBZ movie other than "Let's make some money"?
Yikes-- firebombed? What an image-- I'm glad I just risked tomatoes so at least with the leftovers I may be able to throw together a decent pasta to share with others-- you know-- who recently lost their house to a firebomb. :)
Why God, Why!?
It's DRAGONBALL, not DRAGONBALL Z.
"Why make a live action DBZ movie other than "Let's make some money"?"
Well...I don't think that the creators of Dragonball NEED any more money...maybe it...i don't know, for the fans?
Also, it might not be too bad........maybe...
It's DRAGONBALL not DRAGONBALL Z, if you knew that you'd know why it doesn't look like DBZ. there's no vegeta, trunks or gohan or anyone like that, hell you probably expect cell to be in it.
This is Dragonball, where Piccolo is the villian. (you can see his eyes at the top of the poster if you look hard enough)
From the pictures and stuff i've seen it looks like it's going to be good (www.dragonballmovieblog.net go there and they've got aload of stuff from the movie) but then again, if you don't know the difference between Dragonball and Dragonball Z, then it will all make no sense to you.
I'm a pretty diehard dragon ball/z/gt...well i dunno about gt, but even i'm having trouble keeping my hopes up about this movie. I mean from my experience db has a pretty big following, may i venture to say bigger than transformers? i dunno if there are more fans than for the original transformers cartoons and comics but i think this movie deserved a better effort. All that said, i simply refuse to give up on it...c'mon Dragonball u can do it, i know u can be good!!!...please?
So this is where Emmy Rossum and Gerard Butler have gone after "The Phantom of the Opera"...[expletives deleted] WHAT IS EMMY'S PROBLEM? WHY CAN'T SHE MAKE A DECENT MOVIE WORTH WATCHING??? I loved her in "The Phantom of the Opera", but she can't seem to get it together since then. You'd think PTO would give both Emmy and Gerard their big breaks, but all the [bleep]ing critics say that didn't happen for Gerard until "300" happened, which I think is asinine. Sure, it's the 2nd biggest movie of 2007 and it's really good, but people think all he can do now is play a testosterone-charged, wardrobe-challenged action hero who bellows "This is Sparta!" all the livelong day. Personally, I love most of his movies...although "RocknRolla" leaves me a bit puzzled...I'm not that into gangster movies, but I'll probably see it anyway. I am not as nearly sympathetic for Emmy Rossum's career moves since PTO. Maybe "Poseidon" was OK...I haven't actually SEEN it...but she HAS to have something available besides flicks based on Japanese video games!!!
"Dragonball" looks really stupid. I'm going to go tear my hair out now.
