Let 'Hancock' Pay Off Your House

Here's something you don't see everyday: A movie that pays
you a ton of money.
We've just learned that Columbia Pictures and
Hancock are launching a contest through which
one lucky family will have their mortgage paid off by the misunderstood
superhero. It's kind of in keeping with part of the movie's plot: Hancock (Will
Smith) is told he needs to improve his public image so that Americans
will value his save the day service again.
And frankly, in this economic climate, anyone who offers to
pay off your mortgage qualifies as a superhero. To win, you need to write a
200-word essay explaining why Hancock should pay off your mortgage and
not somebody else's, and I imagine - though this is just speculation - that sob
stories will get extra credit. So if you know someone who's in a real financial
crisis, this might be the ticket.
You've got until Sunday, July 6th to get your entry in. To
enter and to find complete rules of the contest, check out
HancockMovie.com. The grand prize is worth up
to $360,000, which isn't exactly chicken feed.
I think this is great on all levels. I mean, who loses in a
deal like this? Is Columbia hoping to get some extra promotion for Hancock?
Yes, that's why this has Hancock's name on it. Is there an end benefit
for someone other than Columbia? Absolutely. And we promote movies whenever they
have a new clip show up online, so I'm more than happy to push this contest,
which is definitely coming along at the right time for someone.
Hancock opens July 3rd.
