Rainn Wilson Only Drums Naked in 'The Rocker'

rockerposter3.jpgOn the off-chance you've never seen Rainn Wilson as Dwight K. Schrute on The Office, Dwight, next to his brother Mose, might be the best new creation on TV since Tobias Funke on Arrested Development. He's both exactly like and positively unlike anyone you've ever met.

It's a real skill when an actor can portray a character who is instantly believable and completely foreign, and it serves comedies particularly well.

It appears that Wilson has honed his skill again as Robert "Fish" Fishman in this summer's The Rocker. Fish is a drummer. Or was a drummer, at any rate. Back in the 80s, he played in the hair metal outfit Vesuvius, but he was eventually booted from the band. Twenty years later, Fish sees his chance at fame again with the band A.D.D.

There's only one problem: The rest of the members of A.D.D. are all in high school.

We've shown you posters and the trailer before, and now we have a very long clip from the movie, from the film's MySpace page, appropriately titled The Naked Drummer.

The Rocker bangs a gong, gets it on beginning July 30th.

Wilson made a big appearance at CineVegas (not that the Phoen-o-centric world of Big Picture cares). I'm wondering if a few years from now this guy won't actually be bigger than Steve Carrell.

Phoen-o-centric? Hey, if they'd paid my way, I would've been there...

Shame on you. It's his cousin Mose, not his brother.
