'Arrested Development' Cast Spreading Rumors Again
Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 1:18AM
It would indeed be glorious news if this were true, and
the way the speculation has mounted over the past several months it certainly
seems to have more validity than ever.

CHUD is speculating, based on several different sources,
that an
Arrested Development movie is more or less an
eventuality. Now, we have to be careful: There has been no official announcement
made by
Ron Howard or
Mitchell Hurwitz, and you'd think that's where
it would have to come from. However, the Bluth men, particularly Michael (Jason
Bateman) and George (Jeffrey
Tambor) are not exactly ducking from the rumors in the current rounds
of press duties.
Bateman, in an interview with the
Times of London, says that a film version is
planned for 2009. At least that's the subtext. He does say, however, that the
show was subject to a number of possible interruptions that would distract you
from the quick-fire, labyrinthine plot in each episode, something you'd not find
in film.
A-ha.
As for Tambor, CHUD cleverly exhumed a post to
a Defamer story that claims the actor copped to
the big screen Arrested Development late last week on Craig Ferguson. I checked out
the video, and here's what he said: "(Whispers) We may be doing a movie."
So...where does that leave us? Well, it should be fairly obvious that if the two main
characters on the show are under the belief that there will be a film, then we
should bet money on it. Not all of our money - there's no need to go Charles
Barkley at the Wynn Casino here - but it looks increasingly like it's only a
matter of time until we have a fitting end for one of the greatest TV comedies ever.

YES!!!!! It's your professional duty to stay on top of this story for the rest of us, Colin. I've nearly worn out the DVDs of the show by now...

While I'm looking forward to more wonderful Arrested Development word play, I thought the abbreviated series ended perfectly. I mean, the final few minutes had so many wild twists and inside jokes, I couldn't stop laughing. And the final scene, where Maeby proposes to a major Hollywood producer a movie about the zany antics of her family, and the producer who REJECTS the idea is none other that Ron Howard, one of the executive producers of the series and the narrator, playing himself! Now, that WAS a fitting end!
Oh myyyyyyyy...make the movie !!! I have had more laughter and tears from those 3 precious seasons of Arrested Development than ANY show. I'll be there at the theater first show, first night...with a pair of cutoffs ! Long live Tobias ! PLEASE, make the movie ! Michael P
Michael P is a never nude!
