Monday, June 30, 2008 at 9:27AM Bond is Back - Check Out the New Trailer for 'Quantum of Solace'
I still think the name is too sci-fi for the new
rough-around-the-edges James Bond, but
Quantum of Solace will be here in November, and
there's a brand new trailer for it today.
Usually, when it's s a movie like this that a lot of
people are anxious to see, the first trailer doesn't reveal very much. This is
the exception to that practice. Tons of action, it lets you know straight away
what the story's about, and
Daniel Craig still looks as pissed off as he
was in Casino Royale.
I was a bit concerned up till now, and you always are
when there's a next movie in a series like this after they turn a corner back to
respectability. The last thing you want is something as good as Casino Royale diminished by a lackluster follow-up. But this trailer assuages those concerns. It looks less like a sequel and more like a continuation, which is the idea.
Take a look for yourself and let us know what you think. I'll say this: It woke me the hell up this morning.

Awesome-- thanks for posting that! I'm so glad it's building off Royale which honestly overtook Goldfinger as my favorite Bond film and it was cool to not only see references to the prior plot but other cast members. I knew they couldn't waste someone like Jeffrey Wright-- man, the gang's all here and I can't wait. Now if they could just fix that title...
My nephew in the eleventh grade tells me that his English teacher makes the class to word diagrams on Quantum of Solace...
After getting to the various roots of each word, with the help of several dictionaries and concordances one thing has become remarkably clear:
It still doesn't make a lick of sense to anyone in the Western, English speaking world.
But damn if this movie doesn't look cooler than its title.
