Movie Trailer - 'Quarantine' Looks Oh So Familiar

I'll be the first one to admit it's dangerous for a critic to watch all these trailers. I mean, we usually put up a trailer every day. That's a lot of opinion forming, especially when I prefer to know nothing about the movie going in, or at least, I'd like to know as little as possible.

The reason it's dangerous is exemplified by Quarantine. This is the second trailer for the upcoming thrilla and all I see is Blair Witch meets Cloverfield. And because they use so much of the infrared video (although I'm sure that's a post-production effect), let's go ahead and give Rick Salomon some credit, too; he was taping Paris Hilton with that technology long before it was cool.

So I watch this trailer (from TrailerAddict) and I just see fingerprints of other films. Does that mean Quarantine can't be good? No, and I don't believe that trailers tell the full story of a movie, anyway. They're commercials, made by outside companies, to help sell the movie. They're supposed to help you draw parallels in a lot of instances.

But let's see if you have the same reaction I did:

Quarantine takes effect on October 17th.
