And the New Terminator is...Roland Kickinger
Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 8:48PM
He's Arnold version 2.0. According to Ontario's
Clinton News-Record - by way of
AICN -
Roland Kickinger will play the the mechanical
killing machine in
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. I have
seen Kickinger before, oddly enough playing a character named
Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yeah, turns out, in a
made-for-TV movie, Kickinger played the Schwarz from his bodybuilding days into
the early stages of his Hollywood career.
Apparently, Kickinger used to work out with Arnold, so
this is almost like a rite of passage. Says the Austrain-born Kickinger (man,
it's getting freaky), "He was a great mentor. I had several mentors, but Arnold…
he's definitely an amazing inspiration." Shortly after it was announced
Kickinger would succeed his mentor as a cyborg, he opened a chain of
showbiz-themed restaurants with Frank Stallone and Rumer Willis and vowed to
clean up California's environment.
He may have taken it too far.
Of course, when you're playing a cyborg, it's not like
they look at your resume to see what kind of roles you've played on stage. "Ooh,
Long Day's Journey into Night...very impressive..." so getting the next
Arnold is not only a safe bet, but at this point, it's better than getting the
real Arnold.
Terminator Salvation picks up about fifteen years
after the events of the surprising strong T3, with John Connor (Christian
Bale) leading the human resistance effort against SkyNet and the
Terminators. Like Arnold, Kickinger is a T-800, although we had erroneously reported earlier that Arnold was a T-1000. Oops.
The trailer for
Terminator Salvation hit the web yesterday, and
the movie comes out on May 22nd.

Sorry to be a nerd and have to correct you but Arnold was in fact a T-800, Robert Patrick was a T-1000, and Kristannna Loken was a T-X.
There was also mention of a T-600 in the first movie..
Maybe he'll be a T-700?
Kickinger was great in Howard Stern's FX show "Son of the Beach", and I think he's a great choice. In the first Terminator, there's a scene showing a T-800 that doesn't look like Arnold, so I think it works to have someone who looks a little different. Either way, the teaser is great and I think it'll be good times all around.
I just wished the trailer didn't have so much static effect in it. Like Colin said, what a teaser.

It's getting freaky indeed. "Roland" is an anagram of "Arnold"
