Movie Trailer - Keira Knightley is 'The Duchess'

duchessposter5.jpgI walked right past the new movie poster for The Duchess tonight on my way out of a screening and, predictably, I stopped for a second. It's rather hard not to when you see Keira Knightley all dolled up in her costume from a bygone era. She may do too many period pieces, but it's hard to deny that they're what she's best suited for. She found that out pretty quickly after nobody saw Domino and The Jacket.

According to one of Keira's co-stars, Hayley Atwell, the period dress does not come without its own risks. "[Knightley] had to wear this huge wig that was so heavy they made her a board that she could lean her shoulders and head against in between takes so she didn't topple over or get neck aches." Oh, the sacrifices.

In the film, Keira plays an 18th Century aristocratic named Georgiana Cavendish, who held the title of Duchess of Devonshire. Well, she was the second season winner of Devonshire Idol, so she had to surrender the title the next year when Fantasia won. But still.

No, actually, Georgianna was quite the notorious celebrity in her day, an outspoken advocate for women's rights, a gambler, and a visible infidel; she and her husband both had scandalous affairs.

The film also stars Ralph Fiennes, Dominic Cooper, and Charlotte Rampling. There's a new trailer for this wicked, wicked tale, which we grabbed from TrailerAddict.

The Duchess debuts in England on September 5th and in the U.S. two weeks later. If you can't do that math, this movie may not be your cup of tea.
