'Punisher: War Zone' Gets Red Band Trailer, May Have Lost a Director

If it's possible, it looks like Punisher: War Zone may be darker than the first movie. Of course, there were lots of elements about the original Punisher I actually liked, Tom Jane first and foremost. But it certainly wasn't a great film nor a sterling depiction of Frank Castle's story in the comics. I mean, it played the right notes, just not in a very melodic way, if you know what I mean.

The first trailer for War Zone was fine. It could have been a trailer for any movie featuring a guy with a gun. The new unrated trailer is a little more to the point, although I'm not sure it makes the movie look that good, really.

And here's some interesting news: Director Lexi Alexander missed the Comic Con panel for the film, which the producers attributed to her honeymoon, but if you're the director of a movie like this, wouldn't you schedule your wedding next weekend? It's not like they just found out when Comic Con was happening. But wait, there's more: AICN reports that Alexander may be on her honeymoon, but her honeymoon with this movie is over. They're hearing she's been fired along with the musical composer, leaving the spare parts in the hands of the studio. That's never, ever, ever a good sign.

Punisher: War Zone, in whatever condition it's in at the time, will be released on December 5th.

It's about time there's a new punisher I'm sure like Heath Ledger's passing her work on the film was done before she was terminated.

The "original" Punisher did not star Tom Jane. It was with Dolph Lundgren back in '89.

I think the Thomas Jane/John Travolta Punisher movie was a great film....maybe not a great rendition of the Punisher, but it was nicely done and had a lot of substance as a crime drama. (if you can forget about the crappy Russian sequence)
This new take on Frank Castle....looks more style over substance. (who needs deep character development when you can have exploding heads?)
It's easy to see why Thomas Jane dropped out of it.
