Shia LaBeouf Injured in Accident, Charged with DUI
Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 12:00PM
So far, it appears that massive success has not agreed
with
Shia LaBeouf. The 22-year-old
Transformers star was arrested this morning
after an auto accident because he showed "outward signs" of intoxication.
TMZ reports that as a result of the accident,
LaBeouf also severely injured his left hand, which may require surgery. He's
expected to be in the hospital "for a while," and he been given a citation for
misdemeanor DUI.
There was apparently a female passenger in LaBeouf's truck, who
avoided major injuries, as did the driver of the other vehicle. According to
reports, at around 3am this morning, Shia was making an illegal left turn,
causing a collision with an oncoming vehicle with his monster green Ford F150 truck. The
resulting impact flipped the truck over. That's quite a shot.
Take a look for yourself:

As for the citation, the charge was deemed a misdemeanor because there were no serious injuries to the other parties involved. Had they been hurt badly, this would've been bumped to a felony DUI, which in California, carries with it a sentence of 41 minutes in jail.
It's Shia's third minor brush with the law in the past year, and that's two more than a guy with a head planted firmly on his shoulders should get. The Walgreen's incident was truly bizarre, the smoking on a public sidewalk charge or whatever it was was laughable, but this steps it up a notch. Listen, Toys R Us kid, it's time to grow up. Drinking and driving isn't funny, and you've got too bright a future ahead of you to jeopardize it like this.

Pathetic and truly tragic.
I never go out in LA any more because I know there many, many people driving around under the influence of alcohol. The lack of public transportation, the vast distances required to travel from one place to another, and the selfishness of many people who don't want to be bothered taking a cab and having to return to the bar the next day to retrieve their cars makes it dangerous to drive anywhere at night in LA. You only hear about the celebs. You should see the cars weaving around the freeways at night.
Why would Shia drink and Drive?... Where are his parents? What are they doing? We havent heard anything from them...
