Monday, July 28, 2008 at 6:37PM Run! New Trailers for 'Friday the 13th' and 'Return to Sleepaway Camp'
Ah, the horror movie remake: Where would we be without
you?
On second thought, don't answer that.
The current trend of remaking classic horror flicks,
particularly shock and schlock slasher movies, will reach its peak next year,
when a reconfigured
Friday the 13th will arrive in theaters,
courtesy of Michael Bay's Unoriginal Entertainment, or whatever he calls his
production company. It's a remake with a few changes. For example, Jason's all
man here and does all his own killing, which wasn't the case in the original.
A trailer for the new Friday the 13th debuted at
Comic Con, and it looks exactly like this:
Not surprisingly, the movie comes out on a Friday the
13th, the one in February of 2009. But it's not the only horror update we have
to contend with.
Return to Sleepaway Camp is not a remake, but
for fans of the genre, it's a welcome return to one of the absolute silliest and
most unforgettably forgettable slasher movies of the 1980s. Original director
Robert Hiltzik returns to the series that made
him...uh...famous? Anyway, the first Sleepaway Camp spawned three sequels
before this, and from the looks of the new trailer, they're as committed to
quality as they've ever been.
Return to Sleepaway Camp is scheduled to open on
October 13th.
We snagged both trailers from
Trailer Addict, so gracias to them.
