Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 10:16PM Another Less Than Happy Year at Hogwarts: New 'Half-Blood Prince' Pictures
Daniel Radcliffe revealed this week that the
upcoming
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has
"a fair amount of
sexual energy" and even some "drug parallels"
to Trainspotting. That's just...I dunno, hard to believe.
And now poor Dumbledore. Could he look any more
fatigued?

And finally, Draco Malfoy, who looks anything but
fatigued. He looks energized and determined.
Director
David Yates gave USA Today a fantastic
quote about Draco that I'm not sure I entirely understand. "Malfoy slinks off
every so often," says Yates, "and we're very elliptical about what he's doing."
Thanks, I think.
Get the rest of the pics at USA Today and look
for Potter on November 21st.
And now USA Today has a bunch of new pics from Half-Blood Prince, including the three we're showing you now.
There's definitely a continuous gathering darkness around these movies, which is difficult to reconcile with how dark the third one was. These three pictures tell us a lot. Look at the chilling effect in this photo with Harry and Hermione (Emma Watson). Snow's pretty bleak. Just ask anyone on the ice planet Hoth. Of course, we get winter in every Potter movie (I think), because they each represent a school year. But there's something very ominous about the looks on their faces that just wasn't there in Sorcerer's Stone.

As someone who just took a whole Potter course in grad school (strange, I know!), I was amazed by how the books just kept getting more and more ominous. Not sure if you read the text but the 3 pics you chose here along with your comments actually are right on the money in predicting the terribly dark events of that particular book's ending. All I can say is "man, does it throw you for a loop!" It's chilling... though the Trainspotting reference is still beyond me.
