Sigourney Weaver Would Consider Another 'Aliens'

aliens.jpgWhile I'm not inclined to believe this would ever happen, Sigourney Weaver says she would jump at the chance to bring back Ellen Ripley for one more round of Alien fun.

Of course, she was speaking with OK! Magazine, which is not the place you'd normally go for cinema news. If you think this movie is a bad idea, you're right. But let's not forget that Weaver didn't walk away after Aliens, arguably one of the top five sequels ever made, starring not only in Alien³ but Alien: Resurrection, as well. So the news that she might do a fifth is not surprising in the slightest.

"I would definitely do another if I had a director like Ridley Scott and we had a good idea," she says. "Ridley is enthusiastic about it."

It doesn't take much to dissect that statemet: "If I had a director like Ridley...and we had a good idea" tells me that clearly, this is just speculation and Weaver, while she'd like the payday and maybe some final final closure on a character that should have been put to bed over 20 years ago, has no concrete plans. The "Ridley is enthusiastic" comment is puzzling. Because he hadn't wanted to be that involved with the previous three films and he's, you know, 70 years old and has a full slate of films up until he's nearly 75. So maybe his enthusiasm is the same as Weaver's: If, if, if.

As for Weaver, even if all the ifs align - and that's a mighty big if - she'd be in her 60s when this movie gets released. Judging by Harrison Ford's recent work, she'd labor pulling off Ellen Ripley again.

Our thanks to Worst Previews for reading OK! Magazine.

Sadly it is to late for Ripley, that story is so done.

We could use another movie like aliens, set it on earth and have some fun. Good action movie and CGI is cheap enough now you can make some really cool overwhelming scenes of aliens fighting the marines. It can be like the new terminator films are going to be, only with aliens instead of machines.
Really I just want a starcraft movie.
