The Real Question is, Where the Hell Isn't Matt?

When I first clicked on this video over at Cinematical, I thought, "Well, this is silly." But about a minute in I found myself kind of swept up in its simple filmmaking magic.

Where the Hell is Matt? embraces a central tenet of storytelling - which is not just limited to the art and craft of making movies - that a journey should be personal and universal. By that, I mean that what starts in the heart and mind of one person, whether we're talking about the creator or a character (or in this case both), should be easily applied to anyone. If your story doesn't reach people, it's just not much of a story.

This is, however. It couldn't be easier in concept (although the execution had to be a bit tricky, not to mention costly to somebody), and it has almost overpowering effect, at least on me. Maybe I'm the last guy on Earth to have seen this, I don't know, but anyway, what started as a lark has turned something beautiful and even a bit thought-provoking.

I don't think I could sit through 90 minutes of it, granted, but that's a very compelling four minutes of video, in my opinion. Get more info and updates at wherethehellismatt.com.

That was awesome!

I don't know why they did it, but it sure was fun to watch.
