More Great 'Hellboy' Crossover TV Ads

Last week, while you were preparing what would become some half-eaten potato salad for the July 4th cookout that wasn't as fun as last year, which wasn't as fun as the year before, I was here bustin' my hump. One of the things talked about was the clever new marketing campaign for Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The funny is, now it appears to be a full-court press, with new TV commercials that spoof TV with the big lug (Ron Perlman) write in the middle of the action.

These ads will probably only run another week, maybe two depending on the box office debut. So rather than give us lots to talk about for months, Hellboy is smartly advertising against Dark Knight and Dark Knight alone, rather than Dark Knight, Hancock, Hulk, Indy Jones, etc.

So we have some more of Hellboy on Inside the Actor's Studio with James Lipton, a great "The More You Know" PSA satire, auditioning for an acting gig, Hellboy meeting the Ghost Hunters, and playing video games with the star of Chuck, Zachary Levi.

Even though I love a good trailer, these, to me, might be a lot more effective, especially to viewers who have not seen the first Hellboy. This gives them a chance to absorb some of the humor in the character, something the trailers have not done all that well.
