Pakistan's 'Hell's Ground' Draws Blood...A Ton of It

hellsgroundposter.jpgHat's off to io9, who came upon this little gem from Pakistan. Though they astutely point out that there have been horror films from this part of the world for decades, io9 nonetheless informs us that Hell's Ground crows that it's the "first Pakistani splatter flick," which is easier to write than it is to say out loud.

So what do we need to know about this? Well, from my vantage point, it looks like a lot of the early American bloodsports, where there's a not-so-subtle message about how the younger generation is bringing this kind of gruesomeness on itself, what with the drugs and the rock and roll and whatnot.

And I don't know; maybe this is a sort of subliminal anti-Western propaganda. I think you could make that case.

Or it could be just the opposite: A bunch of young kids, emboldened by a less restrictive culture are rebelling against the past with the most absurd thing they can think of.

Or it could just be a mindless free-for-all with no point to it whatsoever. Here's the rather lengthy trailer for Hell's Ground, with subtitles. Look out for the chick in the burqa. She's murder...

Io9 does have a slightly different video, with English dubbing, and a lot more blood.

getthebigpicture.net — They're calling it "Pakistan's first splatter flick," and while that's not manifestly true, it is a movie, it is from Pakistan, and there's a hell of a lot of blood spilling in 'Hell's Ground.'

Actually considering that the term SPLATTER FLICK applies to films containing copious amounts of blood splatter HELL'S GROUND most certainly is Pakistan's first Splatter Flick though many an action revenge film has had huge amounts of blood. However i dont see people referring to an exceptionally gruesome western or a war film as a SPLATTER FLICK.

Zinda Laash was a vampire film and hardly contained a drop of blood visible on screen.

Fact is HELL'S GROUND is well and truly the first and only Pakistani Splatter flim to date..........and is the very first one ever to be passee by the censor in which a female says the F word among others!
