Warning: This City Is Protected by 'The Spirit'

Even though it wasn't as warmly received at Comic Con as you might have thought, I still expect The Spirit to generate plenty of hype in October and November, as its Christmas release draws nearer. I've heard from a couple of people that they don't get why this has to look exactly like Sin City; I've heard from others who think the trailer looks cheap; and I've heard from people who claim to know about these things that Frank Miller doesn't have the right sensibility to bring Will Eisner's story to life the proper way.

We'll see how they feel about it a couple months down the line when more trailers and clips make their way to us. In the meantime, we have a new addition to the Spirit poster gallery. This is the Neighborhood Watch design and it's easily the best poster so far. The character posters all follow a simple pattern and the first couple of teaser posters weren't terribly memorable.

I like this one, however. It tells the story, sets up the color palette, and keeps it simple. We saw it first at IMP Awards, so hit 'em up sometime if you ever want a movie poster fix.
