Win 'Mulan' and 'Mulan II' DVD Set from The Big Picture

mulancover.jpgThis week, you can get your hands on a special two-DVD set featuring Mulan and Mulan II from The Big Picture and Walt Disney Home Entertainment. I always felt that Mulan was a little undervalued; if you look at the films around it, from The Little Mermaid through Tarzan, its visual style is probably the second-best of the bunch (behind Beauty and the Beast, and even then, Mulan is hardly too many lengths back).

Both films have been given new life in this DVD release, getting enhanced transfers that really make the animation stand out. The sound is really good, too; it's been boosted to a 5.1 Dolby Surround, and Mulan even features a Mandarin language track for added authenticity.

It's a good item to have for collectors, and there are plenty of Dinseyphiles out there looking to add to their collection. And it's also good just to watch Mulan again. Yes, most of the Disney animated films of the 1990s were following the same basic formula, and that's why I think Mulan holds up so well. You can even hear an early Christina Aguilera tune on the soundtrack; "Reflection" was recorded when the singer was just 17.

So if you want to win Mulan and Mulan II from us, we'll keep it simple: What former ER cast member supplied the voice for Mulan in both films?

If you know the answer, send us an e-mail by this Friday, August 15th at 10pm Pacific. We'll draw winners at random and notify them this weekend. Wherever you are, you're eligible to win, so give it some thought and drop us a line.
