New 'Warcraft' Game Gets Terrific New Trailer
Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 12:20PM You knew that they were working on a movie adaptation of World of Warcraft, right? It's been in talks for over a year now (Blizzard Entertainment mentioned it at last year's Comic Con), with Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures picking up the tab. I guess they just want to make sure everything is in perfect alignment before they move forward; no director has been chosen and we don't have a timetable yet.

In the meantime, a gazillion online gamers are anxiously awaiting World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King later this year, and there's a terrific new trailer for the game that we thought you may want to see, especially since we will eventually christen this universe as a movie. Again, this is the trailer for the new game. Just so we're clear on that.
Now, what if you hadn't heard about the movie? Worst Previews says that last year the plan was to make it revolve around growing tensions between the races rather than an LOTR-type journey. I buy that. Here's a quote that Worst Previews has about the prospective movie, just to give you some background.
"Originally Blizzard wanted it to be set in the universe of the first RTS Warcraft game with a basic Orcs versus Humans storyline. That was scrapped because of notions that it may be too similar to Lord of the Rings, and that Blizzard felt the Warcraft name has reached its current level of popularity with its MMO, World of Warcraft, as opposed to the RTS games from before, which include three Warcraft titles and various expansion packs. As it stands, the story will incorporate a series of major events from about one year before World of Warcraft, and will be principally told from the perspective of the Alliance."
Whether any of these things come together are up in the air, if they've even been seriously thrown around, but you can absolutely guarantee that when a World of Warcraft movie happens, it'll be big, loud, graphic, long, and expensive, and will have one of the biggest built-in opening weekend audiences you've ever seen.

Forget live action, Blizzard can clearly tell a story and combine it with CGI that is second to none. I could easily go for 2 hours more of what we see above.
Awesome game with cool patches. No wonder it became a hit.
WoW indeed became a hit. With the patches they release from time to time, it makes gamers come back for more. Like me, I grind for more wow gold and raid endlessly, but it's fine with me coz I enjoy the game.
