Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2:16AM Producer Hints That Arnold Will Be Back in 'Terminator Salvation'

Producer Moritz Borman sat down with Wired and kind of unconfirmed the confirmation that Arnold is not a part of the fourth Terminator flick. "Schwarzenegger is governing California. He will not be, as a person, in the film," assured Borman.
Pressed further on what his evasive, winking response meant, he said, "I'm not going to answer the question about what we're trying, or what we want, or what we're toying with. It's really up to what fits in the film or not. Maybe his voice, or maybe not. It's really not settled."
Hmm...a Terminator voiceover. That's interesting. Surely, with as much bad scriptwriting as Arnold has had to read as Governor, he'd welcome the change. And it definitely sounds like the door is open to Arnold for whatever he wants to do.
What's interesting about this development is Arnold's recent comments about the footage producers had shown him. He didn't seem that high on the fourth movie, perhaps because he wasn't involved (?). I still think it looks very good, certainly it has developed into a project with a lot of potential; when they first announced a James Cameron-free second trilogy, I wasn't that excited. Ditto the addition of McG as the director. But Christian Bale as John Connor is great casting, and all the other pieces seem to be coming together. It would be a nice tip of the hat to have Arnold record some dialogue as kind of a stamp of approval.
Of course, this is the guy who gave his stamp of approval to Collateral Damage and Jingle All the Way, so bear that in mind.
