A week from Saturday, you may want to check back with
The Big Picture to see the next video diary from
Watchmen. If you're not familiar with what they
are, every month - on the 6th - there's a new update released for the
Alan Moore graphic novel adaptation, and each
one is more interesting than the last. And especially with the news from
Dave Gibbons, the co-creator and animator of
the comic, that the cut of the film he recently saw was "very sexy, very
violent," we need these little monthly reminders to tide us over until March.
Supposing you've never read Watchmen, you may
wonder what the big deal is. Ask the editors of Time, who named it one of
the top 100 novels of all time, the only graphic novel on that list. It's also
the only comic to win the Hugo Award, honoring the best efforts in science
fiction and fantasy in a given year. So the next time you're at a book store,
pick up a copy.
The editors at Set Magazine have given us the
latest commemorative covers for the film, the second periodical to do that
already, and again, we're some six month away from its release. Can you imagine
the hype in February?
We've got Dr. Manhattan, The Comedian, Rorshach, and the
second Silk Spectre:

Zack Snyder's adaptation of Watchmen
opens March 6th, and we'll have that next online video journal for you in about
ten days. (Thanks to
Worst Previews for the covers).
