'Transformers' Updates, Optimus Prime Spotted
Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 9:52AM
Despite
Shia LaBeouf's injuries resulting from a recent
auto accident in Hollywood,
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is more or
less sticking to its schedule and hopes to be ready in time for next June. As
screenwriter
Robert Orci revealed this week, “Luckily
nothing has to be reshot. Yes, we were on set last week to write [the injury]
into the movie, not because it’s absolutely necessary, but more because we want
to make sure Shia’s hand is protected for the remainder of the shoot.”
Orci also said in his chat with
Transformers World 2005 that "The story for
part 2 is more global, for sure,” which means that parts of Long Beach were
turned into movie China this past week to shoot a few scenes.
Superhero Hype found a couple Flickr folders
with some snapshots of Optimus Prime preparing for his close-up, plus a look at
one of the street signs.

Check out more of the photos
here and
here. Also, there's some nice Hawaii vacation
photos in one of the photo albums if you want to get nosy.

There's also a blow-by-blow of one of the sequences that was filmed there, courtesy of Transformers 2 Movie Chronicles:
"The scene I witnessed was a traffic scene where they were driving down Shoreline Drive and then 2 flatbed Trucks merge into traffic. THEN BOOOM!!! One of the two trucks blew in half." Sounds a little like Shia's accident, actually. When will we see some footage? If I had to guess, I'd say we're going to get a teaser of some kind attached to Eagle Eye. It makes perfect sense, because it's the same studio and it's Shia. So that's the most obvious choice, in my opinion. In the meantime, we'll try to find more snapshots.

This was right before Shia crashed his Tahoe into the prop...
Michael Bay had this to say:
"Yeah. I'm pissed."
Yeah, but Bay later announced that they were planning on working the dent in Optimus Prime's body into the story!
