Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 4:05PM Very Funny Trailer for 'Role Models' With Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott
It pained me to say it at the time, but
Paul Rudd - one
of my favorite comedic actors and based on a couple of interviews I've done with
him, one of the truly cool guys in the business - was in the worst movie of the
year until The Love Guru came out. That movie is
Over Her Dead Body. It's
atrocious. I suppose the only comfort is Paul looks uncomfortable the whole
time, as if he knows it's lousy. Since it was only bad and amateurish and stupid
and not all of those things plus offensive the way The Love Guru was, it
was elevated to the second worst movie of the year.
I'll excuse his walk-on in
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
from this discussion and get straight to the point: With
Role Models, he appears
to be back on track.
It's not often that a slacker comedy makes me laugh out
loud in the trailer. I counted three out-louders in the new trailer for Role
Models, and then just to be sure, I went back and watched it again and the
same three things made me laugh out loud a second time. That's quality.
Rudd co-stars with
Seann William Scott as a pair of guys who do
promotions for an energy drink (see if you can guess which one they're mocking),
and when their obscenely tacky promo truck does untold damage to school
property, they're forced into a mentorship program for wayward boys to fulfill
their community service.
The movie also features the always reliable
Jane Lynch, the hubba-hubba
Elizabeth Banks,
McLovin, and
Nick Nervies, who has all the good lines.
If
that Ben Affleck line doesn't make into the lexicon of 2008, there's something
wrong. Role Models opens on November 14th.

Its about time Paul got to star in a big comedy. Great Trailer indeed.
Oh forgot to add... I drive a school bus part time and kids like Ronny really do exist.
