More 'Borat' Lawsuits Thrown Out of Court
Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 2:00AM
E! Online is reporting that more
Borat lawsuits have been thrown out of court,
this time by a New York judge who ruled in favor of the defendants because each
plaintiff signed a release to appear in a "documentary-style film" and received
payment for their time and trouble.
Two etiquette coaches seen in the film along with the
driving instructor were suing
Sacha Baron Cohen and 20th Century Fox,
claiming they were persuaded into appearing in the film because of fraudulent
tactics employed by the filmmakers. U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska tossed
those cases, as she did another Borat lawsuit back in April by the
businessman who runs away from the intrepid Kazakh reporter on the streets of
New York when he's trying to get a hug.
