Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 3:05PM 'Iron Man 2' in 3-D?
Hey,
remember
Iron Man? You know, the comic book superhero
who ruled summer prior to a certain caped crusader? We have a couple of
intriguing updates on the sequel from
Jon Favreau.
Favs
was doing a press conference for the Iron Man DVD, which is due out on
September 30th, and naturally, the subject of a sequel came up. He called the
decision by
Christopher Nolan to shoot some of
The Dark Knight in the IMAX 3-D technology "a
game changer," according to
Collider, and mentioned that he would very much
like to do the same thing for
Iron Man 2. About the only hurdle seems to be the
pricetag.
Elsewhere on the Iron Man 2 front,
"he did mention Mandarin a lot and he said we
can expect a lot more surprises in the sequel in terms of other comic book
characters." There was also some mention of War Machine (which would be
Terrence Howard
based on the connect-the-dots of the Iron Man story). This ties into
another interesting tidbit I found at IGN.
Artist Chris Swift said, "The most I've heard
is that there's a possibility of the War Machine. That would be Terrence Howard
in this next one. I talked a lot with him on set and I said, 'Get ready. In the
comic books, you end up in the suit.' And I think he's going to get his
opportunity."
I
second the nomination of Mandarin; he'd be a much better villain than the first
movie had. And War Machine we knew would happen, but I thought we'd probably see
that in the third movie. It may be here sooner than that, by what we're hearing
now. Iron Man 2 will be in theaters in 2010 and the Iron Man
two-disc DVD will be in stores at the end of the month.
