Friday, September 12, 2008 at 4:04PM Ray Winstone Replaces De Niro in 'Edge of Darkness'
We've been following the progress of
Edge of Darkness since it was announced several
months ago that
Mel Gibson
would return in front of the camera for the first time in years. The movie is a remake of
the BBC miniseries of the same name, which, like the new movie, was directed by
Martin
Campbell (Casino Royale).
Earlier this month,
Robert De Niro
walked away from the movie after only two days on the set, citing creative
differences with Campbell, and now, according to
Variety, he's been replaced by
Ray Winstone.
You know Winstone from Beowulf and Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull,
although some of his best work, clearly has been in films like The
Proposition and Sexy Beast.
Shooting began in Massachusetts on August 18th, and
Edge of Darkness is still hovering over a 2009 release.

There goes that movie.
Ray Winstone cannot play Darius Jedburgh, a Texan with big brains and a big heart.
Ray Winstone is just a cocky cockney without any substance, except in clothes size.
