Friday, September 12, 2008 at 12:44AM 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' Adds Devastator
While apparently not receiving confirmation that it's
almost 2009,
Transformers World 2005 has received word that you can expect to see
the combiner Devastator in
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. This
is pretty big news, frankly, especially because the sequel to last year's enormo
hit had already turned it up to 11 by bringing in the Fallen. Devastator is, as
you might expect, total annihilation.
He's made up of several vehicles, six or seven,
depending on which generation you're looking at. For the purposes of the movie,
he'll be seven construction vehicles all rolled into one. Now, if you're reading all
this thinking you saw Devastator in the first movie, you're actually half-right.The
Decipticon named Brawl is technically Devastator, although writer
Robert Orci
says that when the Decepticon announces himself and says Devastator, that's a
mistake. So, technically, Devastator is actually Brawl. I think.
Michael Bay, on the other hand, preferred the
name they're using for the new movie, even though it's not really the same
character.
They'll clear all of that up in Fallen, and there'll be
no mistaking this Decepticon for anything else. Devastator will be that puke
green fans of the series have come to recognize, but now there will be some red
and yellow mixed in, too.
Despite
Shia LaBeouf's injury, we're still looking at a
June 26th release date for 2ransformers next summer, and I expect with as
much movement of release dates as we've seen this fall, next summer's movies are
going to remain locked in.

Does this mean we'll see the Dino-Bots too? Everyone knows that the only Transformers capable of defeating Devastator are the Dino-Bots!
