The Next 007 Movie to Shoot in New York?

Aren't you happy that the James Bond films are finally legitimate again? Because with the exception of Goldeneye, there really hadn't been a good Bond in 20 years (the first Dalton movie was OK), and prior to Casino Royale, there hadn't been a great 007 flick since probably The Spy Who Loved Me.

And now we're just a couple of months away from Quantum of Solace, they've successfully reinvented Bond as a slicker British Jason Bourne, and I'm looking forward to at least two more Daniel Craig movies after that. Hopefully it plays out that way.

And if this report is correct, we're due to get at least one more. Liz Smith from Variety dropped a little Seen Around Town news with a Bond flavor. Daniel Craig was apparently seen at a restaurant in New York with 007 producer Barbara Broccoli. According to Smith, they talked about the next Bond movie.

If that's true, then there's a pretty good chance that at least part of that film will be shot in New York, or so says Smith. Of course, she whiffed on the information that 007 has never been in The Big Apple before (watch Live and Let Die...), so take it for what it's worth: The star and producer of the Bond movies were eating in New York and may have been discussing where in the city they'd like to shoot.

That would be a great addition to the new series, I think, because there's nowhere that has the energy New York has and the new Bond series has energy to burn.
