I find it interesting when celebrities open their mouths about personal information, revealing things nobody would ever know, and then refuse to answer questions from reporters about other personal information. Case in point: Eva Mendes. She was in rehab earlier this year, though she won't say what it was for, and it wouldn't have even been a story in the first place had her publicist not sent out a press release. Was she researching a role? Was she exhausted? Does she have a drinking problem? Couldn't she use her positive experience in rehab to serve as an example for others who may be dealing with substance abuse, if that is indeed what was going on? That, of course, is none of our business, and how dare we ask. That information, unlike disclosing that Mendes did her 28 days, is not press release material. Contrast that with her Fashion Week appearance to promote a new line of bedding she has created for Macy's. Why Mendes? Because, as it happens, she's an expert on changing the sheets. The Women star wanted everyone to know that she has had sex in all 50 states. Wait a minute...isn't that personal information? Why is she telling us this? "A lot of it was on a road trip I took when I was younger," said the actress, who singled out Colorado and Arizona as the best locations for knocking boots. "Maybe it was the clear air, or the quiet, or the endless sky," she added, sounding like a bad romance novel. "Whatever it was, it was really, really good." But her whistle-stop sex tour wasn't all great. She had bad sex in Alaska. "I'd really like a do-over on that state," she joked, noting that Alaska Air should sponsor a return trip for her to up her average. Currently, Mendes is about one-fifth of the way to her new goal of making lousy movies in every state.
