Sam Rockwell Will Be the Weirdest Basketball Coach Ever

Sam Rockwell had sex with and then murdered Julia Roberts in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Now he'll play dad to Julia's niece, Emma, in The Winning Season. According to Variety, the high school comedy about a washed-up basketball coach given one more shot by stalking the sidelines for his daughter's high school team is the new project from writer-director James Strouse (Grace is Gone).  Former Daily Show correspondent Rob Corddry will play the high school principal. This kind of smacks of a Bad News Bears retread, although because of Sam Rockwell, I'm more than willing to give it a shot. He can be seen later this month in the Chuck Palahniuk adaptation, Choke.
