Anna Faris Backs Out of Linda Lovelace Bio-Pic

I'm going to consider this a win, even though it might sound at first like a loss. Anna Faris, who proved her mettle this summer by making The House Bunny a modest hit, has dropped out of her most dramatic role to date, playing porn star Linda Lovelace in the bio-pic Inferno.

Ace Showbiz reports that Faris plans on sticking to comedies for the time being and that the time was not right for her to pursue all the dark territory that comes with being the queen of Deep Throat (in more ways than one) who later became a born-again Christian protesting against pornography. I expect the comedies she'll choose to give her a significant pay raise over whatever she received for The House Bunny, and that's just part of the way Hollywood works. If you do something well, another studio will come along wanting you to do the same thing again.

So on the one hand, it's hard to blame Faris for following the trail of money. Who knows when the next big paydays would come? But on the other hand, if she wanted to branch out, this was certainly the role to take. If it would be a flop and she wouldn't get good reviews, Faris would lose all the momentum she has now.

Dramatic roles will be there down the line, even more so if she can manage to knock a couple more comedies out of the park. She's definitely got the skills to do it; Anna Faris has been an underrated comedic actress for years.

As for Inferno, a project that got a jump start from Faris' initial involvement, it looks like it's back to the drawing board.
