This Student Film Is Better Than Your Student Film

Wanna see something cool? Take two minutes out of your day to watch Oktapodi, made last year by Julien Bocabeille as his graduation project from Gobelins, a French arts college. He now works for DreamWorks, and he's an animator on Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. This film has a lot in common with those animated shorts that accompany Pixar movies, although those tend to be a little longer. Bocabeille clearly understands the importance of keeping a story simple, and as you'll see, despite only being two minutes long, this has a hero and a villain, and a beginning, middle, and end. It's a complete story, and I think the animation style fits beautifully.
