Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 6:48AM Movie Poster - Angelina Jolie in Clint Eastwood's 'Changeling'
I have no idea whether or not movies that are based on
actual events have to use that disclaimer at the beginning of the movie - "Based
on a true story" - but we sure do see it all the time, as if knowing that going
in makes the movie better somehow.
Clint Eastwood's
Changeling is based on actual events, and
they're so strange that they could only be true.
Angelina
Jolie plays the mother of a kidnapped child whose son is eventually
returned to her...only it's not really her son. After not getting the answers
she's looking for from a corrupt LAPD, she endeavors to help herself.
Sounds like a great role for Jolie and another
opportunity to show Eastwood's still-ripening maturity as a filmmaker.
Seriously, who has directed a more interesting scope of good films in the past
five years?
Here's the first poster for Changeling, which debuted
yesterday at
Cinematical.

I hope I'm one of the limited release cities that gets
to see this on October 24th, but if not, Changeling will expand its release the
following weekend.

Is this movie related in any way to the 1980s movie "The Changeling" starring George C. Scott?
I enjoyed that movie quite a lot and, if I recall correctly, it was "based on real events".
