Friday, September 26, 2008 at 4:03PM Sacha Baron Cohen Crashes Milan Runway Show as Bruno
Even without Borat's swimsuit,
Sacha Baron
Cohen can cause a fashion splash. He certainly did this week, when he
was crashed two fashion shows in Milan, being taken into custody on Thursday.
Cohen, dressed as his Austrian fashionista character,
Bruno, made his way backstage on Wednesday. He outdid himself yesterday when, in
spite of increased security, Cohen managed to strut on the catwalk during the
Agata Luiz della Prada fashion show.
The actor and comedian, currently filming his
Borat follow-up as Bruno, was soon whisked away
by guards and transported to the Milan Sempione police station for questioning.
He was reported as asking the police, "Can I make a phone call' like they do on
TV?"
As near as anyone call tell, Cohen used fake passes to
get backstage with a camera crew during a runway show by the Italian designer
Iceberg. According to
The Daily Mail, Italian televsion released
after the incident "showed an actor dressed in head-to-toe velcro and wearing a
blonde wig running about, screaming and hurling himself at the clothes racks."
And speaking of footage, here's a little bit of Sacha
Baron Cohen's Thursday afternoon. Mission accomplished, if you ask me.
Bruno will be released next spring; Cohen was
released late Thursday without charge.

the pictures of Cohen crashing the fashion show in Milan hardly look like him... judging by the aftermath, though, it looks like it was an effective marketing ploy
Of course they don't look like him. That just goes to show how well he fabricates his character's so that he isn't recognized.
