First Images of the New 'Alice in Wonderland'

After being a rumored project for who knows how long, Alice in Wonderland will finally get a live action film adaptation, courtesy of director courtesy of director Tim Burton, who is filming the movie now in England.

Plenty of actresses have been linked to the role in the past, but it's going to be a relative unknown, Mia Wasikowska, who goes down the rabbit hole. Burton's vision of the film includes motion capture once she enters Wonderland, while the rest of the film will be live action 3-D. And it was officially announced this week that Johnny Depp will be the Mad Hatter (although it had been unofficially announced months earlier).

INF Daily has a few more pics of Mia as Alice, but we thought we'd show you what we've got so far.

Alice in Wonderland will be released on March 5, 2010.

Well, having finally seen Sweeney Todd, I is changed my mind aboud dis.

If Burton can keep up the superb visual standards of Sweeney Todd, then he'll create a very viewable version of Alice.

What bothers me slightly is that Alice is highly allegorical while Burton seems to favour style over substance.

The depth of the story might be lost in a visual feast.

i really fuckin hope that it'll be realized that "alice in wonderland" is a huge fuckin thing to be messin with. if burton or who ever is goin to make the large ass attempt to reenact this classic literature/ film, they just need to keep in high concideration of the features held in what alice in wonderland fan's and poeple who juss love and adore it to its near death perspective. the whole idea goin into alice's adventures are to be completely psycedelic, acid trip, young london school girlish, trippy, and the entire wonderland theme. i just hope they do a good job.. and im kinda worried on the part of johnny dep playing the madhatter, i also am worried that it will give the reputation of lewis carole's literature and the walt disney film a down fall if not done right. it has to be a fucking masterpiece, not another it turned out ok or it was a disapointment for alice lovers/fan.... just sayin though.

hmm... Alice IS older, but look what Burton did with Mrs. Lovett, he made her younger and Bonham Carter was the best for that role! I look forward to this, and maybe Burton'll change some things up a bit, but its usually for the better. And Depp was a good choice for the Mad Hatter as well.

I think she will be a great "Alice," but I do wish that they had left her hair straight... just to be more like the original! Looking forward to the film, though!

Everywhere I read it seems like everyone's all excited about Tim Burton doing "Alice"... Have you all managed to repress "Charlie and the Choclate Factory" that successfully? If so, can anyone offer me some tips on how to do so?

alice in wonderland has always been dark. the origanal novel was so twisted that origannly was banned from schools and was burned by christians. i think tim burton will do a marvoulse version
of the real alice in wonderland. for the orgianal story was NEVER MEANT FOR CHILDREN. those
of us who actually spent time reading the novel would know that alice in wonderland was written
when the authour was soo high he could touch the moon lol. I just hope its not another
feel good movie but i highley dobt that with tim burton directing. btw johnny deep as the mad hatter
genuise!!! i couldnt think of any other actor to get the proper persona!!!!!

to Alice d,above, Alice in wonderland was not written for adults, It was written by Lewis Carroll for Alice liddel, a little girl he was friends with and based the character on her. and the fact that people presume that there are references to drugs is from the 60s when rumors were started that this was the case. the author was thought to have used opium but this story was clearly written sober, it is a very complex story, and anyone who has ever used opium or hard drugs would know how difficult it would be to write that story under the influence.

Alice is MEANT TO BE OLDER in this, it's about when Alice goes back to that world, it's gonna be darker and more magical then you can imagine. Trust me; I mean have you watched Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd, Corpse's Bride??? I think this film is perfect for Tim Burton and with the combo of him and Johnny Depp it's gonna be fantastic!! Also, Anne Hathaway's in it... she's amazing!!!! :)

It may get some mtv gong nominations but as far as winning goes the current favourite is The Hangover.

Tim's Wonderland has a long way to go to have a sequence that will be anywhere near as spectacular as the land train hijacking sequence in Fast and Furious.

Titanic's record is posible to break, but the movie doing that is more likely to be Avatar than Wonderland. Of all the movies coming out in 2010, Wonderland's the least likeliest

For all of you complaining about her age you idiots need to read into the script a little more and youll see that this is more a sequel to the book. In it years have passed and she is older and runs away and mistakenly finds the rabbit hole seeing how she lost all memory of wonderland. So get over it.

Jackson Tim burtons remake of Charlie was 100 times better than the original. It had more character and was more entertaining. The original was boring and so annoying with all of the singing I dont see how you didnt want to rip off your ears.

I'm so excited to see this. I LOVED the book since I was little and all Tim Burton movies as well. He's amazing and I dont think that he'll mess this up the visual'll be amazing and I don't think that the story line'll get lost to them. Also no she's not too old to be playing Alice this' supossed to be Alice as a teen when she goes BACK to Wonderland. Also It's his interpretation and he's an artist so I think that no matter what he does he won't stray too far from the story and this' supposed to be very dark and out there. Kind of like the video game is but probably no or little blood.

I absolutey love this book (well, books, really: Alice's Adventure in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, and What Alive Found There) and I love the Disney film and even White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane and that absolutely fantastic statue in Central Park by the Conservatory Water (when I was seven years old myself, I would climb the statue and sit on Alice's head, surveying my domain as Alice, ten feet tall, would have done). I've even seen the 1933 Live Action film. I hope this movie is good. I really, really do. I'm routing for it. It would make my decade. Mr. Burton: You have my trust. Prove it's warranted.

Alice D. can u please tell me where to find the origanal novel, the adult version. i have heard of it before, but have never came across it . and johnny depp is going to play an amazing part in this film, i think he will definatly adapt the role to a new level!

Kirby- The novel is available at libraries and bookstores nearly everywhere. It's not hard to find. Recently at Barnes and Noble they were even selling a giant book that contains all of Lewis Carrol's work. It's super.
