'Dark Knight' DVD to Be Released December 9th

Last week, we detailed what kinds of special features you can expect on the DVD and Blu-Ray release of The Dark Knight, and now we have an official release date: December 9th.

Video Business reports that Warner Bros. should expect a 30% increase in sales over the fourth quarter last year thanks to the Batman sequel, which will push for several major Academy Awards, including Best Picture, a Best Director campaign for Christopher Nolan, and an acting award for Heath Ledger.

The single-disc standard DVD will set you back $28.98, and the two-disc limited edition is $34.99; The Dark Knight will be available on Blu-Ray for $35.99.

And here are some sneak peeks at what the DVDs will look like, including the special two-disc limited edition BatPod gift set.

I'll be there picking this up on Blu-Ray. The batpod "limited edition" intrigues me, but I think that I'd rather have the standard two-disk w/ Heath Ledger artwork than the other set's odd looking case.

This is the right time to pick up a BD player, Orinn.

Watching movies will never be the same.

Panasonic are excellent for price/performance.
