Does Gotham Need Another 'Hero'?
Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 8:38AM
We called out Brian Austin Green for
volunteering to play The Riddler in the follow-up to
The Dark Knight, so we have to do the same
thing to
Milo Ventimiglia, who has a Batman role in his
sights, as well. The
Heroes star is quoted by
Showbiz Spy as saying, "I always thought I
would make a great Robin." On behalf of everyone who understands what
Christopher Nolan is trying to accomplish with
that series, I offer Mr. Ventimiglia a hearty "Go screw yourself."
Explains Milo, "I would love to be
Christian Bale's sidekick in Batman. Even when
I was younger I never wanted to be Batman. I have always wanted to be Robin. To
this day I still think that would be pretty cool." That makes one of us.
In related news, Spy also says that a spokesman for
Warner Bros. calls
the rumors that
Cher would play Catwoman in the third
installment "untrue," although, frankly, it's surprising that the rumor even got
that far.

Well put Mr. Boyd. Well put. I never would have imagined that hearty and go screw yourself would go so well together. But they do. Oh do they ever
There seems to be a huge faction of people out there that thinks that Robin needs to be brought back to life in the cinema.
To that, I say "Great", but does he necessarily need to return in the Nolan Batman Franchise?
DC is a rich universe, that is terribly un-tapped in the way that the Marvel catalog has in the past few years. Sure, we have heard rumors of a Wonder Woman movie. A Justice League. A Green Arrow. And even "sigh" another Superman re-boot.
But Robin has had many stand-alone (most of them quite good, actually) adventures in the comic book world, and a movie of his own should not be too far fetched...
Hell. They gave Catwoman her own movie.
That's a really good point. Unfortunately, I don't know if DC, even with the success of Batman, wants to do a stand-alone Robin movie. Really, nothing outside of these past two Batman flicks have done much business for DC, at least, not to the point that they're happy with it. I'm fairly certain that with Warner's new stance to walk on the dark side with the comic book flicks, we won't see Robin at all. At least not for several years.
I am very disappointed in your comments. I used to like reading your thoughts on things, but not anymore. First off, to bash someone for their aspirations shows a very nasty side of yourself. Second, if Robin was to be brought into this franchise....Milo would be a wonderful choice! So your comments are even more out of line. Next time think before typing.
